Jessmine Cornelius, known as “Jess Suilenroç, was born January 18, 1994 in Dallas, Texas and found her gift of singing at the age of six. At the constant push of her grandmother, the late Jo Ann Perkins, Jess easily became a standout in every choir she participated in during her grade school years. After reaching over 20 million views on Facebook on her cover of the Deniece Williams hit “Silly”, Jess knew that it was time to make room and take charge of her career in music. In terms of influence, she credits Anita Baker, Lailah Hathaway, Lauryn Hill and H.E.R. as pivotal inspirations. Subsequently, she likes to describe herself as a free spirit with vibes like Lauryn Hill and a spirit like Erykah Badu. Education has always been her number one priority but she has learned, through time, that her gift is necessary to reach, fuel and motivate others. Aside from the entertainment factor, Jess remains vocal regarding issues of social injustice and advocating in the #ForTheCulture movement, primarily on social media, to keep hope alive. A junior at Prairie View A&M University, Jess is majoring in History with a minor in African-American Studies. Her goal is to obtain her Bachelors degree before diving nose deep into the music industry as she believes that a backup plan is always necessary. Ultimately, she allows the word of God to be her guidance and trust that whatever lies ahead for her, is indeed for her.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. — Jeremiah 29:11
